Thompson Gray — WordPress Website Design for a US Defense Contracting & Federal Consulting Firm

A credential-rich WordPress website built for a 100% employee-owned Huntsville-based defense contractor serving the US Army, Department of Defense, and federal agencies across the United States.

Timeline: 1-month Project

Thompson Gray is a 100% employee-owned defense contracting and federal consulting firm founded in 2008 and headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama. The firm provides programmatic, financial, acquisition, logistics, and information technology support to the US Army and wider Department of Defense, with deep expertise in GFEBS (General Fund Enterprise Business System) optimisation and training.

Elite IT Solutions built a serious, credential-forward WordPress website that reflects the firm’s stature in the federal contracting space. The design carries the weight of a century of combined professional experience while remaining approachable for HR visitors, potential partners, and capability-seeking agencies. Dedicated sections cover capabilities, leadership, career opportunities, and community involvement — giving each audience a clear path from the homepage into the information they actually need.

The result is a website that works equally well for a contracting officer assessing qualifications and a job seeker exploring Thompson Gray as an employer of choice across the USA.

Client

Thompson Gray, Inc. a 100% employee-owned defense contractor and federal consulting firm based in Huntsville, Alabama, providing programmatic, financial, logistics, and IT support services to the US Army and the Department of Defense since 2008.

Context

Federal contracting buyers look for three things quickly: certifications, past performance, and capability fit. Meanwhile, talented candidates research Thompson Gray as a potential employer with very different questions. The firm needed a single digital presence that addressed both audiences without compromising either.

Problem

Thompson Gray’s earlier web presence didn’t reflect the scale of the business, its ISO 9001:2015 certification, DCAA approval, or GSA Schedule status. It also didn’t give candidates a clear view of the culture that has earned Thompson Gray repeated recognition as a Best Place to Work in Huntsville. A serious, capability-rich WordPress rebuild was needed to close that gap

Key Pain Points

  1. No clear path for federal agency visitors to quickly assess capability areas, certifications, and past performance
  2. Limited showcase for the firm’s employee-owned culture and career opportunities, weakening recruiting efforts
  3. Outdated presentation that undersold the firm’s standing and 15+ years of federal contracting experience

We delivered a WordPress website designed around the way federal contracting audiences actually read: capability-first, credential-forward, leadership-visible. The homepage opens with clear mission positioning — “Your Mission, Our Expertise” — and segments into capabilities, company story, careers, and contact pathways within a single scroll.

A full About section traces the firm’s 2008 founding and employee-ownership transition. The Capabilities area groups offerings under clear headings, financial management and GFEBS analysis, acquisition support, program management, IT and cybersecurity, robotic process automation, and training. A Careers section highlights the Best Places to Work recognition and community volunteer work with Kids to Love, supporting recruitment.

The build is fully responsive, easy to maintain in-house, and structured for ongoing content additions as the firm wins new federal contracts and expands its Alabama and Virginia footprint.

Thompson Gray now has a credential-rich, professionally designed WordPress website that matches the firm’s standing in the federal contracting space. Visitors can assess capabilities, certifications, and leadership at a glance, while job seekers get a clear view of the culture and community involvement. The site supports both business development and recruitment goals from a single codebase.
