Illuminated Angels Haven (IAH) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, sheltering, and nurturing young girls in the Dominican Republic who come from circumstances marked by poverty, neglect, and instability, providing education, food and nutrition, emotional and mental wellness support, healthcare access, safe shelter, and creativity and enrichment programming, supported by donors, sponsors, and volunteers.

Context:

Illuminated Angels Haven was operating an international child welfare mission rescuing and caring for young girls in the Dominican Republic from a US administrative base, and was doing so in a category where donor scepticism toward overseas giving is justifiably high and where a website must communicate operational transparency, holistic programme design, and dignified storytelling all at once to convert a first time visitor into a sustained supporter.

Problem Statement:

Without a WordPress website that surfaced the six programme areas as a coordinated holistic care model, presented child sponsorship and volunteering as concrete and meaningful engagement options alongside one off donations, and supported the multilingual nature of an international donor base, the organisation could not effectively scale donor and sponsor acquisition beyond word of mouth.

Pain Points:

• Families seeking therapeutic equine support for children navigating trauma faced a small and confusing field where program credentials and safety standards were not always easy to evaluate from a website.
• The website needed to communicate the genuine therapeutic depth of the program without sliding into either clinical coldness or rescue ranch sentimentality.
• Donors and volunteers wanted to see the operational reality of the haven, the animals, and the people behind the mission before committing time or funding.
